Repair Policy Explained

1. Introduction

 

Thank you for choosing Hobson Kayaks. We are committed to providing you with the best possible experience on and off the water. To ensure your peace of mind, we offer a comprehensive repair policy that covers all damage repairs.

 

2. No Excess Fee

 

There is no excess fee to use the Hobson Kayaks Comprehensive Repair Policy. Once enrolled, you can take advantage of the coverage benefits without any additional charges beyond the annual fee.

 

3. Enrolment and Fee

 

  • Annual Fee: The cost of enrolling in the Hobson Kayaks Comprehensive Repair Policy varies depending on the level of cover you choose.

  • Enrolment Period: Coverage begins on the date of enrolment and is valid for one year. The policy must be renewed annually to maintain coverage.

 

4. How to Enrol

 

To enrol in the Hobson Kayaks Comprehensive Repair Policy, please contact our customer service team at the details provided below. To make enrolling as convenient as possible, we accept payment by bank transfer or card payment. Customers can also choose to spread the cost with a monthly direct debit payment plan. These flexible payment options ensure that you can easily maintain your repair coverage without any hassle.

 

5. Terms and Conditions

 

  • Eligibility: This policy is automatically available to all original purchasers of Hobson Kayaks and Ride Kayaks and covers one kayak per policy. Kayaks up to 3 years old can be added to the policy, but proof of condition will be required with photographs and a video.

 

Exclusions: The following are not covered under this policy:

  • Damage resulting from misuse, abuse, or neglect.

  • Cosmetic damage such as scratches, dents, or discolouration that do not affect the functionality of the kayak.

  • Damage caused by unauthorised repairs or modifications.

  • Damage resulting from commercial use or rental purposes.

  • Existing repairs carried out by third parties will not be covered.

 

Claims Process: To file a claim, please contact our customer service team with your proof of purchase and a description of the damage. We will provide instructions on how to proceed with the repair. Customers may be required to submit photos of the damage and other documentation.

 

Repair Locations: All repairs must be performed by Hobson Kayaks, or an authorised repair partner

 

Economic Viability: All repair work must be economically viable. Hobson Kayaks will assess the viability of each repair, and the final decision on whether a repair will be covered under this policy rests solely with Hobson Kayaks. 
If a kayak is deemed beyond economic repair, we’re committed to supporting you through the process of purchasing a new one. As a gesture of goodwill, we will offer you a discount of one full year of insurance with your new kayak order. This ensures that you can continue to enjoy your time on the water with the confidence that your new kayak is fully protected, allowing you to use your kayak without any added concerns.

 

Transport Responsibility: Customers are responsible for the transport of their kayak to and from the workshop for any repair work carried out. Hobson Kayaks is not liable for any transport costs incurred by the customer / damage caused during transport.

 

Repair Time Frame: Repairs will be completed within a reasonable time frame, typically within 30 days, subject to the extent of the damage.

 

Customer Responsibility: Customers are responsible for maintaining their kayak in good condition. Neglect or improper maintenance that leads to damage may invalidate the policy.

 

Transferability: This policy is transferable to new owners, but only if the policy is maintained continuously from the original purchase of the kayak. Hobson Kayaks must be notified of the transfer of ownership within 15 days of sale or policy will be invalid. 

 

6. Renewal and Notifications

 

Renewal: Customers will receive a notification 30 days before their policy expires, with instructions on how to renew their coverage. A grace period of 15 days will be provided for renewal after the expiration date.

 

7. Cancellation and Refunds

 

Cancellation: You may cancel your Hobson Kayaks Comprehensive Repair Policy at any time by contacting our customer service team. Please note that the annual fee is non-refundable.

 

8. Limitation of Liability

 

Hobson Kayaks’ liability is limited to the repair of your kayak under the terms of this policy. We are not responsible for any incidental or consequential damages that may arise. 

 

9. Repair Limitations

 

Each policy under the Hobson Kayaks Comprehensive Repair Policy is limited to a maximum of Three repairs per year. This ensures that we can provide timely and effective service to all our customers. If more than Three repairs are needed within a year, additional repairs will be subject to standard repair fees.

 

Basic policies will be held to the same standard of care and repair, but limited to one per year. 

 

10. Multiple Kayak Discount

 

For customers wishing to enrol multiple kayaks under the Hobson Kayaks Comprehensive Repair Policy, we offer the following discounts: a 20% discount will be applied to the annual fee for the second kayak under cover, and a 30% discount will be applied to the annual fee for the third kayak under cover. These discounts make it more economical to ensure that all your Hobson Kayaks are protected and well-maintained.

 

 

 

Hobson Kayaks Comprehensive Repair Policy Options

 

The average repair cost for a kayak ranges from £200 to £300. To offer enhanced value and convenience, we provide several options:

 

1. Discounted Multi-Year Deal

 

For customers purchasing a new kayak, we offer a discounted multi-year warranty deal. By opting for a 3-year warranty at the time of purchase, you can enjoy a significant discount, providing extended coverage without the need for annual renewals.

 

2. Priority Repair Levels

 

Gold Level Cover: This option guarantees a 1-week turnaround for repairs after delivery to our workshop.

 

Silver Level Cover: This option provides a 2-week turnaround for repairs after delivery to our workshop.

 

3. Basic Cover

 

For a more economical option, we offer Basic Cover which includes one repair per year.
